INSPECTION AND REVIEW OF FALL PROTECTION PPE
PPE has the objective of ensuring safety and protection for the worker, therefore it must be constantly kept in a state of complete efficiency.
The EN 365 standard establishes that each fall arrest PPE must be subjected to regular periodic inspection.
The purpose of the periodic inspection is to allow a competent person to verify that there are no lesions on the PPE, even if not visible to the inexperienced eye, which could reduce its effectiveness. Any damage could make the use of PPE dangerous: in this case, protection against falls is no longer guaranteed.
As indicated in the standard, the inspection must take place:
- At least every 12 months;
- In the event that the worker notices damage;
- Following falls.
